Every year on Saint Patrick's Day, people celebrate Irish heritage with music, parades, and the familiar Wearing of the Green. What began as a religious feast honouring Saint Patrick has grown into a global celebration of Irish culture and tradition.

Irish lore is filled with symbols of luck, from the shamrock to the rare four-leaf clover. Another well-known tradition is kissing the Blarney Castle stone, said to grant the “gift of the gab” — a legendary Irish talent for storytelling.

Here in Chatham, Irish heritage remains a meaningful part of the community, with Irish ancestry ranking among the region’s top reported demographics. On St. Patrick’s Day, that heritage is remembered with pride, a bit of green, and perhaps a touch of the famous Luck of the Irish.

And if you’re feeling festive, stop by and pick up a little green of your own — Irish themed tees are available for purchase while supplies last.
